15 August Independence Day

Today my son had 66^th India Independence celebration at his school.   I decided to dress him as Bhagat singh.  Bhagat singh is a freedom fighter for Indian Independence. The costume was simple, white shirt and black pant and a hat.  So I got the chance to sew his second shirt.  This time I made four pattern piece shirt compared to last time.  It was neat and crisp. 

For hat, I chopped off my husband’s old pant.  Draw and cut the pattern on the paper and sew.  It’s not so hard you see.....

The costume was ready last night; we played Bhagat singh dress rehearsal .   Arya loved his dress and very happy to wear them and introduce the character.  Today morning he got up early  and wore the dress.  When we reached school, he was all in tears.  I stayed there for sometime and promised to buy him jelly, candy after his school. 

Finally he gave me a big smile.

Bird nest and eggs...

We didn't miss Father day...We had wonderful weekend - eating day and night ahhaaa; we were at our friends place, treated our self with good food.

I love to travel but I hate the fact of packing and unpacking when we have kids to take along. We are back home I unpacked and did some housework. We shifted our cupboard from upstairs to ground floor; that was a long day work, today I manage to clean the chaos.
 
My friend gave Aryan an old bird mobile still good to play.  We brought it home, separated the bird and beads.

We decide to make nest for the birds and we had fun making some eggs to decorate the nest.

Supply for the bird nest:
Yarn
White glue
Small bowl

 We dipped the yarn in the white glue and neatly rotate around the bottom of the bowl.  The nest shape will develop, leave it dry.  Once completely dry approx 8 hours, the nest is ready to use.


Supply for the Egg: 
Tissue paper
White glue

We mixed the tissue paper and glue; made it like a dough.  Make small ball out of the dough and leave it for dry.

By evening the nest and egg was ready to use, we went to the terrace Arya collect some leave, small sticks...
He arranged them neatly in the nest..

He had so much fun when we build the nest for bird... He learn about bird, bird lived in nest, their egg, how they fly and make noise.

Toddler Penguin BackPack

Thanks for the supportive comments and encouraging me to post this tutorial.  This is my first backpack specially made for my son.  He started his preschool last week, I was very excited. He fancied penguin,if you have read my earlier post you could have known about the penguin story behind the backpack.  The backpack turns out more fabulous than I imagined. I couldn't take many photos but managed to make a tutorial with a few photos if you have any doubt please feel free to ask me.  Hope it is of some use.  I'm happy to share with you all.

To start with the tutorial, I googled for Penguin picture, once when I found one I printed, enlarged and made some modification to suit the backpack. I started with a pattern, then cut out the eye, nose, feet, hands and body on felt cloth. You can create any animal on your own.

Lacing Card

Oh boy! my son can help me with sewing.  Do you remember i spoke about http://www.activityvillage.com/ earlier they have good pictures for lacing card.

Make your own lacing card and help your kids develop their fine motor skills. I found this cute Tiger picture.  I took print and cut them into shape and glued to cardboard. Using the hole punch, about an inch apart punch hole around the edge of the picture. All done, its time to play...

 Believe it; your child will love to play with this.

Big and Small Fish

Diwali season is here,and people busy with shopping clothes, decorating home, buying gifts and making sweets... We bought crackers, aryan is all geared up for diwali celebration.  I squeezed in some time for this project.  I found this website very useful to keep the kids busy  www.activityvillage.co.uk/

I took the print out and cut them in shape.  Aryan enjoying playing with fish, he name them, put in and out of the basket.

Clothespin game

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend.  Guess what? I did have a good weekend.  I did lot of shopping... wait for the photos, will show you all the fabric i bought.

I picked up few toys for my son. Toddler are physically and mentally active. I read somewhere  that the brain develop rapidly in first three years of a child's life. So these three year is most important period of their life. Recently I visited littlegenegreenbean blog and found some good preschool ideas.

With clothespin you can have lot fun games with your child. Clothespin games help toddlers develop eye and hand coordination and small muscle skills.  Whenever I dry my clothes I take my son along with me. I ask him to help me with clipping the clothespin.  He started loving it, he used to empty the container then put them back and start clipping the pin on the rim of container or cloth.

I bought some great plastic clothespin for my son. Its a Horse! 

 Aryan likes horse, we play jumping horse. He just loved these pin. See what I made for him.

My requirement was simple, few cereal box, A4 sheet to print the template,crayons and glue.     

                                

I took few colour printed templates and others I coloured myself.  My son had fun colouring them as well he scribbled everywhere, you can them in the picture.

   

 
Now we enjoy playing matching the colour horse and clothespin.
