Snack pouch

It is was another great weekend with lot of fun but ended with a tragedy.   Sunday night I was getting down from the stair and next moment i remember was sitting on the stair can't move my leg.  Guess what, I fell down from the stair and sprained my ankle. Ankle got almost twisted and when I try to bend my ankle the sharp pain started off OMG...   Two days stuck at house without doing anything. My sweet husband help me with little work and gave my leg good oil massage.

Today feel better, and  I made up the lost time with a small and very thoughtful project.   I was think about it for long when we were on holiday, carry plastic bag for snack everywhere we go and no proper dustbin to throw.   On a average we use 365(a bag per day) plastic bags a year for storage, which will not biodegrade. Contaminating our earth, I am horrified about the thought!!!

So this a great replacement for plastic bags can be used for snacks to beach, park, work or school.

Isn't it an unique handmade gift?  Thinking to make one for all my friend to replace the plastic bag .

Bird nest and eggs...

We didn't miss Father day...We had wonderful weekend - eating day and night ahhaaa; we were at our friends place, treated our self with good food.
I love to travel but I hate the fact of packing and unpacking when we have kids to take along. We are back home I unpacked and did some housework. We shifted our cupboard from upstairs to ground floor; that was a long day work, today I manage to clean the chaos.

My friend gave Aryan an old bird mobile still good to play.  We brought it home, separated the bird and beads.

We decide to make nest for the birds and we had fun making some eggs to decorate the nest.

Supply for the bird nest:
Yarn
White glue
Small bowl

We dipped the yarn in the white glue and neatly rotate around the bottom of the bowl.  The nest shape will develop, leave it dry.  Once completely dry approx 8 hours, the nest is ready to use.

Supply for the Egg:
Tissue paper
White glue

We mixed the tissue paper and glue; made it like a dough.  Make small ball out of the dough and leave it for dry.

By evening the nest and egg was ready to use, we went to the terrace Arya collect some leave, small sticks...
He arranged them neatly in the nest..

He had so much fun when we build the nest for bird... He learn about bird, bird lived in nest, their egg, how they fly and make noise.

He carrying the nest in his bike...

Jean Owly Backpack

Its been long time I did any recycling.  I love to show you what I did this week with my jean pant for my little hero.

Very cute Owly backpack.  When I made this bag I felt very bonding.  When I gave this bag to my son, he gave me a hug and said " I love you".  I felt very touching.

There is a story behind this backpack, other day i was telling my son " okay summer holiday is over and its time for you to get start with your school"
"so you should start packing your stuff in your Penguin backpack".
My son told me " mama I need Owly bag to pack my things".
 My answer was immediately okay.

Have you heard about the Owly story by Mike Thaler?.  Its beautiful story about mother and son bonding by Mike Thaler.  During his bedtime I read him this story and he was very fond of Owly, so he wanted the have Owly bag for his own.

The story goes like this...

Owly started asking questions when he was two years old. He would sit all night with his mother under the stars.
"How many stars are in the sky?" he asked one night
"Many," answered his mother.
"How many?" asked Owly, looking up
His mother smiled. "Count them".
"One,two,three four..."
"One hundred and one,
  one hundred and two,
  one hundred and three,
  one hundred and four..."
Owly was still counting when the sun came up. "One thousand and one, two..."
How many stars in the sky?" asked his mother
"More than I can count ," said Owly, blinking.  And he tucked his head under his wing, and went to sleep.

The next night Owly looked up at the sky again
"How high is the sky?" he asked his mother
"Very high," she said, looking up.
"How high?" asked Owly.
"Go and see," said his mother.
So Owly flew up into the sky. He flew high above his tree.  He flew to the clouds. He flapped his wings very hard.  He flew above the clouds.  But as high as he could fly, the sky was always highers.  In the morning when he landed on the tree, he was very tired.
"How high is the sky?" asked his mother.
"Higher than I can fly," said Owly, closing his eyes and falling asleep.

The next night Owly heard the sound of the waves in the ocean.
"How many waves are there in the ocean?" he asked his mother.
"Many waves," she answered.
"How many?" asked Owly.
"Go and count them," she replied.
So Owly flew to the shore.  He stood on the beach and counted the waves.  "One, two, three,four.."
But as many as he could count, many more followed.
"One thousand and one,two..."
And when the sun came up he saw that there was still an ocean full of waves. So, sleepily, he returned to his mother.
"How many waves are in the ocean?" she asked.
"More than I can count," answered Owly, closing his eyes.

The next night owly asked his mother,
"How deep is the ocean?"
"Very deep," she answered.
"How deep?" asked Owly.
His mother looked out at the sky.
"Almost as deep as the sky is high,"she said.

Owly looked up. He sat there all night thinking about the sky, and the stars, and the waves, and the ocean, and all he had learned from his mother.
And as the sun came up he turned to her and said, " I love you."
"How much?" asked his mother.
"Very much," answered Owly.
"How much?" she asked.
Owly thought for a minute and the gave her a hug.
"I love you as much as the sky is high and the ocean is deep."
She put her wing around him and gave him a hug.
"Do you have any more hugs to give me?" asked Owly
"Many more." his mother hugged him again.
"How many more?" asked owly falling asleep.
"As many as there are waves in the ocean and stars in the sky."
And she did.

Isn't it a very nice story.  I love it when I read this for my son.  And he did as well.

Ok back to my jean Owly backpack,  hope you remember my Penguin backpack.  Owly is replica of the Penguin bag.  I found the picture on google, printed, enlarged to suit backpack.

Water bottle slot is additional to the pattern.

Hope you enjoyed the story and backpack!!!

Me and my hairstyle

How often do you change your hairstyle???

During my childhood I always had short haircuts. I grew up as a tomboy, never preferred spending time in a bathroom/dress table. All I needed was 10mins to get-going.  My hair was bouncy and thick, so I preferred to keep it short and clean.

Till I finished my high school - Me and my short hairstyle.

In my college day; I decided to have long hairstyle. But as I got busy in life I found it was unmanageable, so I again preferred to have medium hairstyle (step cut and layer cut).

Beautiful feather cut  - during my college.

People say during pregnancy hair loss is high.  But I didn't have any hair loss during my pregnancy and I preferred to keep it long.   After my son's birth I got my hair relaxed.  So two years I had long hair with glowing burgundy highlights.

On May first week, I got my new short haircut with reddish brown highlight, remains me of my childhood days.  So convenient to wash and dry to carry on. My hair looks thicker and glossy now.

Hello Everyone!

We landed on Sunday morning and still holiday hangover is not over.  I'm packing my bag again for weekend to attend wedding.

Here is few photos of our trip to Kerala.  We reached Arikkad around 9.30am, filled our stomach with yummy homemade breakfast, then it was fun and playtime...

Next day morning we reached Wayanad, which is situated in elevated picturesque mountainous plateau in the Western Ghats.

We were 25 family members, four people are missing in the photo, my cousin had an ankle sprain so she was resting near the tree with her parents.

Kuruva island was beautiful dweep, to reach the island we have to cross a small stream; ferry service was provided.

How can we miss beach in kerala..

Calicut beach
Kadalundi beach

Our favorite Jack fruit....
