Classic tote bag

Hope you had a wonderful weekend.  My internet was on and off during last week.  After a struggle with telephone exchange people finally i got my internet connection up.  Here is my new tote bag made for my sister. She loved this fabric and wanted for herself.

It is a flat-surfaced bottom; pretty spacious for holding all essentials with a zipper closure.  Extra zipper compartment in the front and back of the bag.   This upholstery fabric is extremely durable and great bag for shopping or beach or weekend or working girl.

Wooden button embellishment is classic. I took this photo before the button was attached.

A perfect match of fashion and function.  Inside with Zipper pocket on one side and five little pocket on other side to keep mobile, ear phone, pen, key ,lip gloss etc..

So what did you make this weekend???

You know what this week my productive was good .  I made two patterns -  Chaaya bag (large and small) and one tote bag which I will be posting soon.  Yeah, waiting for little sunlight to shine and start clicking.

Once I sewed the zipper purse then I decided to go for two wooden button.  And they look lovely.

Kids shorts with cuff, pocket &button.

This weekend I have stroked off few tasks from my Do-list.  One of the task was shorts for my son with cuff and pocket.  I got this fabric in three different colors, so planned to make them with different pockets.

After long break finally I managed to make a tutorial for Kids shorts with cuff and pocket embellished with button.

Materials:

Fabric A
Fabric B
Elastic
Buttons

First I traced the pattern from my son's old shorts that fit him well and marked the pattern on the Fabric A and cut them.
Use Fabric B for pocket and cuff.

For Cuff, I cut 2" wide strip.  Sew the right side of the strip onto the wrong side of bottom of the shorts.

Now fold the strip into half  and fold again toward the right side of the shorts. In other-words turn the shorts right side out and fold the cuff into half and one more time and press.

Neatly top sew both the ends of the strip.  I used  purple thread on the black stripe and I love thelook.
Mark the pocket pattern on the Fabric B and cut 4 pieces of them.  Sew 2 pieces with right side together and leave one side open, then turn it around.

Mark the pocket wherever you want it on the shorts.  In the front or back or sides.  I planned to sew this pocket on the side of the shorts.

Slightly fold the raw edge toward inside and top sew the pocket to the shorts.
The cuff and the pocket is ready.  Now simply sew small side of the shorts - right side facing each other.  When you turn the right side it should look like this.

Pin the back portions with right side facing each other and sew the crotch.
For waist, fold over more than the elastic size and sew the edge and insert the elastic.  Now ready to sew the button .

Enjoy making one!

Something for me.

I sewed some dresses for me. I was thinking to do this for long; but it happened only now.  I managed to find time to create and sew for others whether it's bag or handmade gifts or craft for my son.  But when it comes for me I'm too lazy; keep posting my task.  Well finally I found time for myself and managed to do two of them.

I bought this skirt in September and it was lying in the cupboard neatly folded because I couldn't find a nice top.  When I was clean my studio before Diwali, I digged through my stash and found this lovely coffee brown silk cotton fabric .  It has nice shinning  finish and matches my skirt.  I add shining lace around the neck to match the skirt border.

I find it very easy to sew for me.  I try to stick on to simple pattern and daily wearable. In totally it took me 45mins for cutting and sewing during my son nap time.  I try to finish it before aryan got up. Its still raining here and day looks dull, I managed to take this photo with little lighting.

I added white lace to neck first, then ended up adding the lace at the bottom as well.  I think it looks nice with the lace.  I have too more fabric to sew.

What did you sew???
