Name Label is ready

Finally I got my Name label at a competitive price.  Ordering Label is quite expensive and they accept only at large quantity.   During my vacation to hometown, I found a place where I got my name label done at nominal price for less quantity.  It is so neat and brilliant.

Custom order Fabric gifts

Happy Durga Pooja!  It's a festival time and I was busy working on customized order.

I had a call from Mala Bharath on Saturday referred by my friend Deepa.  She wanted aesthetic  gifts for Navarathri which had to be delivered by Monday morning. Yeah, I had only two nights to finish the nominal bulk order. It was hard press time for a big order, but the motivation was "Impossible itself say I'm possible".

Fabric trays

I was happy that she trusted my work.  We discussed color, style, price and promised to deliver on time.  I struggled and hardly slept to finish the order.  But it give me a rejuvenating feeling when customer was happy & satisfied to complete the transaction. I love that moment.

I enjoy creating custom order.  It is a special piece just made for the customer who trust and admire my work.  It's a bit of extra responsibility to make a special piece within a given time; but it is also a door to grow your business.  I consider it has a good opportunity to connect with people and other ideas.   When the transaction is completed, it's like someone recognizing and honoring me for my creativity, my time, and my energy pulled in.

I'm working on few more orders this week and hope to share with u all soon. What projects have you been working on this month??

DIY Business card

I made my own business card.  I love everything which is handmade.  I wanted to have my own business card something which express my creation and love toward handmade stuff . So here I'm with my homemade business card.

This is so simple yet looks professional .

Things you need are:

Fabric of your choice
fusible interface
Inkjet printer
Stamp
Ink pad

Pinking Shears
Single Hole Puncher

Here we go:

My business card of 2"x 3.5" size. First I prepared a excel sheet with my details and leaving enough space for stamp.

Then print on the fusible interfacing, this is very light interface so easy to print on the inkjet printer.

Now iron the fabric on to fusible interface

Then cut  2"x 3.5" rectangle nice and neatly with pinking shear. This is little time consuming but the result is worth it.

Use your personalized Stamper to stamp either your logo or shop name.

With the help of the Single hole puncher make a hole

Finally your business card is ready to hang from your item.  I used satin ribbon to hang the tag.

Simple T shirt Bracelet

Have you seen the Tutorial for 5-strand-braided-headbands by Ashley from make it -loveit.  I was so inspired I was cutting down all the T shirt.  I was trying it out for last few days.  It all started for my husband birthday, he loves bracelet and I wanted to make one for him.  Hope you checked out in my previous post what I gifted my husband,  I managed to add beads in between the braids.

This is a simple, easy and repetitive process, I learned it from one of my friend.  All you need is some old T shirts, needle and matching thread.

Lets cut the 2" long strips, you need twice the length you are making , for my husband's wrist I used around 16" long.

Step 1 Take 4 strips and slightly curly it. So it is easy to braid.  I took two black and two white, you can choose different colors they look very pretty after braided.

Step 2 Stitch them together to keep it secure.

Step 3 Lay the strips, split the black strips each sides(left and right) and white strips each sides (left and right).
Step 4 Bring the black strips together as shown below.
Step 5 Take the black strip on the left and cross the strip right next to it , bring all the way under beneath the white strips.

I don't  know whether I have confused you please check the picture they are self explanatory

Step 6 Slide it through the gap between black and white strip on the extreme left.

Step 7 Pull the left hand strip and tight (you can adjust the tightness as you start braiding the next side)

We are going to repeat the process again on other side.
Step 8 Take the black strip on the right and cross the strip left next to it , bring all the way under beneath the white strips

Step 9  Slide it through the gap between white and black strip on the extreme right.

Step10 Pull the left hand strip and tight (you can adjust the tightness as you start braiding the next side)

Step 11 Then split the white strips left and right.

We going to do the same thing with the white strips now, so take the white strip on the right and cross the strip left next to it , bring all the way under beneath the black strips.  Slide it through the gap between black and white strip on the extreme left. Then repeat the process on the left side.

Keep repeating until the end and keep adjusting the tension as well.

Step 12 Braid till the end once you are done at the end.

Step 13 Stitch both the ends together with needle and matching thread.

Step 14 Take a rectangle piece to cover the stitches.

Step 15 Neatly cover the ends with the rectangle piece, tucking the ends inside and stitch it.

The bracelet is ready to wear...Try with different colors they look beautiful on hand.

Let me know if I have confused you....

You can also try this with thread or rope.  I made one with thin black rope for my husband.

New month with new inspiration- Jewel

My inspiration for this month is Jewel making... Did you ever know why women love jewel???

Is it wearing jewel make them feel good or social status or pretty.... varies from women to women.

I believe its an beautiful art; enhances the beauty of women.

When I was kid I was allergic to metal, gold only suits my skin.  Unfortunately school rule does not allow children to wear even gold ear studs.  I had hard-time piercing my ear more than thrice because of sensitive skin.  I admire all sort of jewels but when it comes to wear jewel; I was restricted to few types.

Being Keralite its traditional to buy and give gold jewel to daughter during marriage.  After my marriage I never remember wearing my gold jewel for different occasions.  I admire gold jewel but really don't fancy wear them daily.  After my son's birth my sudden love to wear jewel have increased...(pregnancy hormone after effect...hhahah).  Unlucky me again because of my son's sensitive skin problem I couldn't wear anything which will aggravate his eczema.

During our last holiday to Kerala, myself and my sister in law went shopping the beads, jewel making tools and other materials.  Finally on 1st July I made my first project in jewel,  an anklets with crystal and golden beads.

This is my second project an beautiful necklace with black, red, golden mixing beads... I had a matching dollar to match with necklace.

Did you ever get tired doing the same routine??? Why not try something new???

I love to hear what inspired you this month...

Snack pouch

It is was another great weekend with lot of fun but ended with a tragedy.   Sunday night I was getting down from the stair and next moment i remember was sitting on the stair can't move my leg.  Guess what, I fell down from the stair and sprained my ankle. Ankle got almost twisted and when I try to bend my ankle the sharp pain started off OMG...   Two days stuck at house without doing anything. My sweet husband help me with little work and gave my leg good oil massage.

Today feel better, and  I made up the lost time with a small and very thoughtful project.   I was think about it for long when we were on holiday, carry plastic bag for snack everywhere we go and no proper dustbin to throw.   On a average we use 365(a bag per day) plastic bags a year for storage, which will not biodegrade. Contaminating our earth, I am horrified about the thought!!!

So this a great replacement for plastic bags can be used for snacks to beach, park, work or school.

Isn't it an unique handmade gift?  Thinking to make one for all my friend to replace the plastic bag .
